I worked hard in order to pass the exam.

= I worked hard so that I could pass the exam.

Can I put ",' in front of "so" to express the meaning of "purpose"?

I worked hard, so that I could pass the exam.

The sentence above sounds like "result" like "and therefore."

A comma serves as a pause in the middle of a sentence. It serves no purpose in the sentence as it is meant to be continuous.
