Are the sentences below correct? If "yes" - what's the difference between them? if they may be used interchangeably?

1. I won't be staying for the class.

2. I won't stay for the class.

They are correct and mean the same.

If I were refusing to stay, I would use the second. If I had already made plans, I would be more likely to use the first. However, there's plenty of overlap between them and many cases where either could be used.
