Hello, everybody!

1. I wish/ if only you were more polite.
2. I wish/ if only you would be more polite.

3. I wish/ if only you didn't smoke.
4. I wish/ if only you would not smoke.

Could you tell, please, if all of these sentences correct and why?

They are all OK with "I wish" or "If only".

were more polite/ would be more polite

There is no appreciable difference in meaning.
