Long time ago in junior high, I was taught that I should say "I like A better than B." not "I like A more than B."
However, when I asked "Which do you like better, John or Paul?" to my American friend, she asked me back, "Which do I like more?"
Which is correct (or more natural), "better" or "more"?

Does the same rule apply when I say "I like studying better (more?) than teaching"?

For me, both are acceptable.
