I have applied for a job at a company. I hope they will/would hire me.

Does the meaning change in terms of 'will' and 'would' in the context above?

This link didn't help much.
Read it carefully. I think it covers what you want to know, especially about using "hope" with "would" or "will".

I just want to know if 'would' can be used to indicate a certainty or uncertainty in the future.
The use of "hope" aside, "would" is tentative - less certain than "will".

Is 'I hope they would hire me' wrong?

Why are you insisting on using "would" with "hope"? Are you perhaps thinking of "wish" instead?

It is only logical that you hope for something positive and definite (will), not something uncertain (would).

I hope they will employ me.
I wish they would hurry up and offer me the job!
