I guess he hasn't/hadn't seen that prank before

I was watching a video of my friend getting pranked which got me thinking about something.

Here is how the conversation went.

I:"You got him good."
Paddy:"So so good."
I:"I guess he hasn't seen that prank before."

I was wondering if it was also possible to say "I guess he hadn't seen that prank before." since he has fallen for the prank and is now aware of it.?
 
It's not only possible but better in my opinion. Since he is now aware of that one "hadn't seen" makes more sense.
 
I'd use the present perfect as the prank has just been shown.
 
I'd use the past perfect.

I guess he hadn't seen that prank before you just played it on him.
