Hello all

The beginning of the century was a bad time for me. I didn´t play a tournament since 2000, and I wasn´t even practicing much. I didn´t really care about my career anymore.

( That was how coach Carter found me when we met in 2005)

In my opinion there should be past perfect simple and past perfect continuous instead of past simple and past continuous? I have always thought that since is usually connected with present perfect/past perfect. My teacher created this example to show me that under certain circumstances it is not necessary to use past/present perfect. However I still doubt this

Thank you very much :)

The sentence would be better as:

I hadn"t played in a tournament since 2000, and I hadn"t even been practicing much.
