I am in the middle (answer to Where are you in your family?)

Hi,

A: Do you have any siblings?
B: Yes, I do. I have one sister and brother.
A: Where are you in your family?
B: I am in the middle.

Can we say 'I am in the middle as an answer to that question? I know I can say 'I am a middle child.'

You could; it's not a standard answer, but it's clear enough. I would use the middle child as you're the only one.
