Are these correct and natural?

1. Howard woke up with the sound of his own snoring. The winter sun was seeping through chinks in the curtain, casting dappled shadows on the wall.

2. It was as if the gloomy day outside was seeping through the window of her room.

They're good.

I don't find the idea of him waking up "with" or "to" the sound of his own snoring natural. Once you're awake, you don't snore so he wouldn't be able to hear the snoring after he woke up. You could say "His own snoring woke Howard up" or "Howard's own snoring woke him up". They make it clear that he was aroused from his sleep by the sound of his own snoring without suggesting that he continued to snore after he was awake.
