Hi,
I'd be grateful if somebody could tell me what the right form of saying this is. We want to say that, the elderly need to be supported during the years they are retired. Now, what's the best alternative form instead of "during the years they are retired"?

Can one spend their retiredness?!

(How about, spend/pass their retirement cheerfully/happily? (Could cheerfully be used here as a feeling over time?)

Many thanks.

your suggestions are grammaticallly correct, but do not sound (to me) like something English people would actually say.
I think these are more likely:

... enjoy their retirement happily/ contentedly

... enjoy their well-earnt (OR earned)/well- deserved retirement.

during their retirement (years)

Thank you for the very practical tip of yours. Cheers!
