[General] How to say if we think that someone has got stuck in a traffic jam?

what are the different ways to say the following sentences (B's) and are they correct?

A: where is John?
B: I don't know. He may/might/could be stuck in a traffic jam.
B: I don't know. He may/might/could get stuck in a traffic jam.
B: I don't know. He may/might/could be trapped in a traffic or in traffic?

But, I've seen sentences like "I'm trapped in the traffic" and "I got stuck in the traffic". Are these incorrect?

The first and the third are acceptable to me if you say 'in traffic', without the article in the third sentence. 'Traffic' is uncountable.

The problem with the second one is that it's discussing future possibility, not present possibility, and so it doesn't work in your given context.

In BrE, the second would be OK if it said "He might have got stuck in traffic/in a traffic jam".

And in AmE, except we'd usually say gotten​.
