What type of reactors does the Zaporizhzhia complex have, and how might they differ from those at Chernobyl or U.S. nuclear power plants?

The six reactors at Zaporizhzhia are called VVER-1000s, and they are cooled and moderated by light [ordinary] water. So in that respect, they’re similar to U.S. pressurized water reactors. They are somewhat more advanced models than the earlier versions of [this type of reactor], so they do have some features that are more in line with modern safety philosophy—but not entirely.

The reason for using might rather than are is that the speaker doesn’t want to make the question too hard for the one who answers it. Because Because are means the accuracy of the information is confirmed, while might means many possibilities. Am I on the right track?

Not really. The speaker is going to answer it themself.

Might suggests possible answers will be given.; Do suggests factual answers

I think 'might' was chosen because it allows for the possibility that there is no difference - perhaps they're the same type of reactors. Also it's asking for a comparison between three different areas - Zaporizhzhia, Chernobyl, and the US. Perhaps they differ from one location, but not the other.

'Do' presumes there is a difference, 'might' allows for both difference and similarity.
