How do we say "in the picture" or "on the picture"?

Please give me the correct answer to the question in the title. How do we say it in British English.

If we want to describe a picture, we talk about what is in the picture. If, for example, the picture was old and stained, we could talk about a stain on the picture.

I believe that mixing the word "please" and an imperative sentence doesn't make a polite request. But adding would you would do the trick.
