In murder and mystery English novels, what are the hollow doors, please?

I don't know how 'hollow doors' have to do with murder and mystery novels. It's probably the sound which is louder when knocked on.
Hollow doors are constructed of a timber frame covered with thin layers of plywood on both sides, which is cheaper. Whereas solid doors or solid-core doors are made of solid pieces of wood joined together to form a solid panel.
 
They can be kicked open more conveniently when someone's been killed in a locked room. It's also easier to listen to people though a hollow door. ;-)
 
Also, hollows doors might figure in murder mysteries if the murder involves a fire. Many hollow doors have fire-proofing material inside.
