"Last year he conducted a thorough investigation into the "........" case, General Director told a press conference." Is it possible to change '' told a press conference" to " held a press conference" ? Would the meaning stay the same?

Press conferences are "called" - announced.

They are "held" (take place0 in a location or hosted by a group or individual.

People speak at the press conferences. So someone can get up and "tell" their side of the story.

Can you please give me you final comments on my posts "will have finished or if they finish" and "the sequence of tenses"?:)
