Hello.

I want to suggest that someone's eyes are really sad. I thought about puppies when I pictured sad eyes. Some puppies have really sad eyes.

Can I say this? Does it make sense?

I came home and found her gazing at the TV. Her eyes were as sad as a puppy's.

My problem is that some puppies don't have sad eyes. Could this be confusing?

Try putting an adjective in front of puppy's. That should work.

I already mentioned sad. So what can I say? Something like doleful?
That would be redundant.

You have lots of words to choose from. Some obvious ones are:

- lost
- hungry
- lonely
- orphaned
- abandoned
- sick
- stray
- motherless

Now you think of one!
