Hi,

Which preposition is correct in the following sentence?

I was sorry to hear for/about his death.

Hi. (There is no need for a greeting of any kind but, if you must use one, put a full stop after it.)

Which preposition is correct in the following sentence?

I was sorry to hear for/about his death.
Only "sorry to hear about" is correct. I cannot think of any context in which "hear for" would be used. Have you seen it used in an English sentence?
