Hello.

Can I say someone floats in a pool of self-pity? Is it a nice way of saying is having a lot of self-pity?

What do you think about this?

The night she left him, he drank himself to sleep. He was floating in a pool of self-pity all the next day.

Hm. We'd usually say "wallowing in self-pity."

Sad. He was feeling sorry for himself the whole day. He drank himself to sleep again that night.

How about "drowning in self-pity" to stay close to the pool metaphor?
