He took admission "in" or "at" a school or university.

Could you please tell me what should be used here?

Neither. We don't "take admission" to school or university.

If anything, at is more appropriate.

He was admitted at Bangalore University.

To is more natural in American English: He was admitted to Bangalore University.

Neither. We don't "take admission" to school or university.

We don't say "take admission". Then what do we need to say instead of it?

"I got admission "to"or "at" Oxford university". "I got admitted "to" or "at" that university".

I got admitted to Oxford University.

I was admitted to Oxford University.
I have been admitted to Oxford University.
I have won a place at Oxford University.
I'm going to Oxford! Woo hoo!!!
