Hello

Have I used "jewel in the crown" correctly in these sentences?

This is a great team and Bardy is their jewel on the crown.

Brady is the jewel on the crown of this team.

Brady is the jewel on the crown of all NFL players.

If not, what is an expression or idiom which would mean a player is the best among many good players?

Given that you correctly used "jewel in the crown" in your opening sentence, why have you used "jewel on the crown" in the title and all the example sentences?

I got confused a bit.

Are the sentences correct other than that?

Well, let's decide whether the players name is Bardy or Brady first, shall we?

Tom Brady. [STRIKE]:)[/STRIKE]
You've been a member long enough to know that we don't use a home-made smiley to replace a standard punctuation mark.

Alright then. Are the sentences okay?

Is it okay if I edit the first post?

Please don't edit it now. There are too many responses that won't make sense if you do that.

1. This is a great team and Brady is [STRIKE]their[/STRIKE] the jewel [STRIKE]on[/STRIKE] in their crown.
2. Brady is the jewel [STRIKE]on[/STRIKE] in the crown of this team.
3. Brady is the jewel on the crown of all NFL players. :cross:

May I ask why 1 is correct and 2 is not?

1-Brady is the jewel in the crown of this team.
2.Brady is the jewel in the crown of NFL players.

If we were to consider all NFL players as one group, can't he be the jewel in their crown?

He can, but he would be the jewel in the crown.

Are you saying this is correct?

2.Brady is the jewel in the crown of NFL players.

It's grammatical, but it doesn't look natural to me.

Remember to put a space after the punctuation you use to demarcate a list.

I find it very unnatural as well. All the NFL players in the world can't share a crown. A team (using its name) could have one. If he's the best NFL player of all, I suppose you could say "He's the jewel in the crown of the NFL". Here, the NFL refers to the whole league as a single unit.
