Hi guys! I have a question.

There is dialog:

A: Daria, have you ever been to Australia?
B: Yes, I went there last year.
A: What month did you go?
B: June.
A: Have you / did you visit (ed) Sydney?

The question is: is this a past simple or present perfect?

Hi English,

Welcome to the forum.

What do you think the answer is?

Hi English,

Welcome to the forum.

What do you think the answer is?

Hi,

I think the answer is "Did you visit Sydney?" because "B" person answered that he went to Australia last year. And The person "A" answered about THAT trip (because Sydney is a city in Australia).

I think 'Did you visit Sydney?' is correct because it refers to 'last year', a past-time marker.

A: Have you / did you visit (ed) Sydney?

The question is: is this a past simple or present perfect?

Have you visited is present perfect. Did you visit is past simple.
