He has tested/has been tested positive for Aids.

Are both the active and passive voice correct for the verb 'test'?

Thank you in advance.

It seems both options are possible:

test positive/negative (for something)
Athletes who test positive for steroids are immediately banned. Longman

Eighteen US soldiers in Kuwait have been tested positive for swine flu, health authorities have said.
BBC - US Kuwait troops suffer swine flu

NB: AIDS -- all capitals. Although I think you test positive for the virus, HIV. AIDS develops afterwards -- or perhaps not at all. Perhaps Ray will be along to comment.

Correct.

Thank you very much, all teachers here. I've learned new things here every day. I should have said 'tested positive for HIV (RATHER THAN AIDS).
By the way, I thought both AIDS and Aids were good spellings because I read 'AIDS or Aids' in MACMILLAN without much thinking. In that way I could remember the spelling the easier way.

Thank you heartily (I wanted to try another way to say thank you but does this sound naturally?) again.
