I chose A but the correct answer turn out to be C so I confused a bit. Can someone help explain it for me?

The sentence makes no sense with A.
"We'd have asked ..." means "We would have asked ..."
The meaning is that if you had told us he was a famous doctor, we would have asked for his autograph. This implies that 'we' weren't told.

Yes, the answer's A. We don't say, "It's not worth for ..."
