My understanding is that the verb agrees with the noun favorite.
However, in the case of blocks (toy blocks indicating one toy, toy blocks), would it be correct to say:

My favorite toy is blocks?

If that is correct, then would the following also be correct?

Blocks is my favorite toy?

Thank you.

Think of it as a category.

My favorite toy is blocks (that kind of toy).

Or a package.

Welcome to the forum, inc.

Please distinguish the word(s) you are asking about from the main text by using italics (favorite) or quotation marks ("favorite").

Favorite (favourite in BrE) is an adjective in your sentence.

Thank you! I will make sure to do so in my future posts.
I wanted to go back and edit my original post but haven't figured out how to yet. 🙂

Thank you!

So does that mean the following is also correct?
Blocks is my favorite toy?

The reason why I am confirming this is because in a given material for a class the following was on the sheet:

Teacher: What's your favorite toy?
You: Puzzles are my favorite! I love puzzles!

One of the vocabulary is blocks, so using the same sentence structure, I wasn't sure if the sentence would become:
Teacher: What's your favorite toy?
You: Blocks are/is my favorite! I love blocks!

Don't edit posts after they've received responses.

@inc Are you asking me if I would say "Blocks is"? Do you understand subject/verb agreement? Is English really your first language?

Are you saying "blocks" is a vocabulary word? (I played with blocks when I was a child.)

Yes.
The question is whether blocks can be treated as a singular noun even though it has a definite singular form “block.”
The reason is here “blocks” is being referred to as 1 type of toy ( 1 toy, blocks) and not the actual meaning of wood.

As mentioned above, the sentence:
My favorite toy is “blocks.”
Is correct because is agrees with toy, and blocks is referring to the one toy that is my favorite.

Which brings me back to my other question, if the sentence above is correct, then what about the following:

Blocks is my favorite (toy).

This is probably the closest I will get to doing what you want me to do. (See below.)

I used to play with blocks when I was a child. It (blocks) was my favorite toy.
