'go to a doctor' or 'go to see a doctor'

Can anyone please help me with the following two questions?
#1 'When I'm sick I go to a doctor.' Do we usually say so?
#2 'When I'm sick I go to see a doctor' is better than 'When I'm sick I go to a doctor'? What's the difference between them anyway?

Not "go to see a doctor" but just "see a doctor" or "go see" (where I live).

Either "go to" or "see" is fine where I live.

If don't feel better by tomorrow:
I'll go to the doctor.
I'll go see the doctor.
I'll see the doctor.

You're still sick? Did you see a doctor? Have you been to the doctor? have you seen a doctor? I thought you were going to the doctor?

See is better than "go to" because we go to a place, but we go and see a person. We don't want the poor doctor to be objectivized.
