The recessed glass top supplied is not seating on the support base because it is touching the table frame. It seems that the glass top is slightly larger than the table frame.

I think "seating" works too, although it may be a bit jargon-y. To me it's analogous to the way we say the valves "seat" in a combustion engine.

I'm familiar with that use of "seat". I just don't think it works in the present continuous. I would have accepted "... isn't seated on the base correctly".
