Hello, everyone
Could you please tell me if the following sentences are both correct? Thank you.

Don't give up on the plan.
Don't give up the plan.
 
Both are correct, in my opinion. They have similar meanings, but they are not the same.

The first says that you shouldn't stop thinking the plan might work.
The second says that you shouldn't end the plan.
 
Don't give up on the plan. Don't stop trying to make the plan work; keep trying as it may eventually succeed.
Don't give up the plan. Don't abandon the plan.

;-)
 
What did this add that was different from post #3?
