Get + object + to + gerund

I have just read this sentence in a grammar book: "I got the pump to working."

I assume that many people would delete the "to."

Would someone please Reed-Kellogg the sentence with "to."

I don't know RK, but I do know that the many people who 'would delete the to' are people who prefer to speak English. (That is, you must delete either the 'to' (I got the pump working) or the '-ing' (I got the pump to work).)

I don't think it can be diagrammed, because I don't think it is correct.
 
It has a colloquial Southern feel to it.
