Hello,

Which preposition should be used with "elevator"?

Someone was [coming out of/getting off] the elevator just as I was getting [in/on/into] the elevator.

And what if the word "elevator" is omitted?

... just as I was getting [in/on]

(For some reason, "into" without "the elevator" sounds odd to me.)

Thank you.

Nawee

I get into and out of an elevator, and on and off an escalator.

You can also get on or off an elevator.
