What is the difference between
1.If we goad him into doing what he should have been doing all along, then it will be a smashing success.
2.If we goad him into doing what he should have been doing all along, then it will have been a smashing success.
Please clarify.
Thank you.

The first clause is not important there. The difference in meaning is the difference between, "then it will be a smashing success" and "then it will have been a smashing success" ie. the usual difference between the simple future and the future perfect.

Please be patient. When you started this thread, it wasn't yet 5 am where I live. Bear in mind that our members live all over the world, in many different time zones. We are all volunteers and access the fórum at various times during the day, therefore an immediate response is not always possible.

To be fair to the OP, the first post was made on June 27th. It is now July 7th. That is an unusually long time for anyone to wait for a first response.

I agree. My apologies to deepuips. I looked only at the time and not at the date.

The second puts more emphasis on the successful completion of the task.
