[Grammar] Future tense and Future Perfect tense

What is the difference between
1.If we goad him into doing what he should have been doing all along,then it will be a smashing success.
2.If we goad him into doing what he should have been doing all along,then it will have been a smashing success.
Please clarify.

The first clause is not important there. The difference in meaning is the difference between, "then it will be a smashing success" and "then it will have been a smashing success" ie. the usual difference between the simple future and the future perfect.
