[Grammar] from (the) campus

Do we need definite articles here?
You can get from (the) campus to nightclubs and back to (the) residence halls on (corrected) foot.

The second "the" is necessary.

Some people use it in the same way as they use, in BrE, school. college, university, hospital.
So, would it be natural to say 'You can get from school to nightclubs and back ... on foot'?
 
:) Okay, let's put it this way: 'You can get from school to the library and back ... on foot'. Is it grammatically correct and natural now? (I am especially interested in the usage of the article.)
 
And in AmE.
