Hello, please, can you help me?
I want to give a gift... so that I write:

For John from Mary

or

To John from Mary
:?::-?
Thanks for your answers.

Both are possible.

Is there a difference?

You might want to put something in between "To John" and "From Mary" just to make it a little more friendly. Choose whatever is appropriate:

Happy birthday
Congratulations
With love
Good luck

or something else which fits the occasion.

Actually, the whole sentece was like:
For John, the best colleague, from Mary :-D
My school-leaving :) (in our country we make a little greetings with our photo which are given to our friends with the date of our Ribbon Party)
