Is "for" necessary in this case, please? Is it correct?

"I'll need my books back for next Friday".

"I'll need my books back next Friday". The speaker wants the books to be returned on the Friday.


"I'll need my books back for next Friday". The speaker needs the books on the Friday. They must be returned before then to ensure that s/he has them when they are needed.
