1) These children are spoilt for choices.

Is this sentence correct?
Does it mean they have a lot of choices?

I think it is correct, but don't quite see the meaning of 'for' here. I think it means 'as far as choices are concerned'.
 
They have so many choices it's hard to choose between them.
