hi,
i m writing a book. i want to know if there is a good idiom that describes a situation where you are surrounded by friends and other people but still you feel as if you are being neglected.

'All alone in a crowd.' I'm not sure whether it was an idiom that was adopted into a song (not sure what it's called; perhaps 'By myself' - it ends 'No-one knows better than I myself I'm by myself alone'. Or maybe the song lyric was adopted into idiomatic language. Anyway, people do use the expression without any feeling that they're quoting a song (if that's what they're doing).
