They are all farce elections.

They are all election farces.

They are all farcical elections.


Are all three ways to express the despisal ok?

You are right. I remember the word 'farce' is used to refer to trials of dissidents in Stalinist Soviet Union. Is that really unapplicable to describe phony elections?

I would say that "farce" is okay, but to use it as a noun, not as an adjective.

The elections are a farce.

I would use the word "farce" if it is something not to be taken seriously. That is why the trials of dissidents in the former Soviet Union were called show trials. They were not really trials. They were shows. Theater.
