What does "as" mean in the two paragraphs?

The word "as" has meany meanings according to the dictionary ,but I can't figure out what it means in the following paragraphs.

1-Fahim apparently was targeting Cuomo, as he learned of Cuomo’s address from their shared employer, Pence Wealth Management, where he developed a reputation for erratic behavior, Boucher said.

2-The Samba Boys did not get their nickname by accident and they appeared to be in fine spirits as they made their way onto the team bus for the game in Qatar.

Is it possible to say that in number two it means "when"?
That would be saying something else. If you say they were in fine spirits when they boarded the bus you are suggesting that they weren't in such fine spirits when they got off. (Others may disagree.)
