Everyone of the students loves a good joke.
I know that in British English, it should be 'Every one'. Do American use 'Everyone' instead?

Thanks.

Only "Every one of the students" is possible and correct in all variants of English. "Everyone" has a completely different meaning and would not be followed by "of the students".

Not every native speaker is always careful about such distinctions in their writing.

Really? I can't say that mixing up "everyone" and "every one" is something I've noticed is a common error in natives' writing.
