English native speakers for for language experiment needed

Dear all,
I'm currently conducting an experiment for my final thesis. For this, I'm in need of native speakers of English who are willing to participate in a short 10-12mins language experiment. All you have to do is to read and rate sentence pairs.

I'm having problem that could affect the results. Are we judging the second second in relation to the first, or as a sentence on its own?
For example, this pair:
"A scan confirmed that the private laptops contained sensitive customer data. Instantly, the supervisor dismissed the employee who was the initiator of the adroit theft."
The second sentence is perfectly acceptable to me, but bears little relation to the first, and therefore is not entirely "natural". I assume that I should still give it a 7, since it is only the second that we are judging. I don't think this is made clear enough.
Maybe with "The first sentence serves as context, it does not need to be rated", you could add, "The second sentence should not be rated on how naturally it follows the context" (if indeed that is true).

I gave up, because I was not sure about this. Some of the second sentences are fine on their own, but unnatural as a follow-on to the first.

The idea is that you read both sentences, but your rating should be about the second sentence regardless of what the first sentence says.
