Hi, the following sentence is from this website:
The train line facilitates travel between east and west.

Shouldn't it be between the east and the west?

And is it correct to say:
The train line facilitates travel between the east and west of China.

I don't know when I should not use the in front of east etc.

You might use those words without the article if it's clear what area you're talking about.

And is it correct to say:
The train line facilitates travel between the east and west of China.
Yes, but I'd prefer "between eastern and western China".

Hi. The following sentence is from this website.

"
The train line facilitates travel between east and west."

Shouldn't it be between the east and the west? And Is it correct to say no colon here "The train line facilitates travel between the east and west of China"? I don't know when I should not use the in front of east etc.
In future, don't make us click on a link to see the source. Give the link but also tell us the name of the website (or the book/article/author).

The original sentence is correct as long as it's already clear the speaker/writer is talking about China. It would also be correct with "the" before "east" and "west".
