Try writing some sentences using "during" and "while" and we will comment on them. What's the difference of the words "during and while" written in a sentence?
thanks in advance.
Yes, those are possible. It's difficult to think of a context for the second one though.Ok, thanks,
I go to Asia during the summer holidays.
She comes in while I have my lunch.
is "when" the same "while" when we use in a sentence.
NOT A TEACHER
(1) I am also a learner who gets confused by these two words.
(2) I recently found an explanation from the British Council (online). It greatly helped
me, so I am delighted to share it:
When is used for shorter actions; while is used for longer actions.
(a) Please study these examples:
I was riding my bike when I fell down.
I fell down while I was riding my bike.
I was reading a book when the telephone rang.
The telephone rang while I was reading a book.
(3) All of those examples are credited to the British Council. They are NOT mine, so
they must be correct.
