[Grammar] Don't or Doesn't?

Here's the following sentence:

"Maybe those words don't/doesn't mean a lot to you."

I know the "word" refers to the third person, therefore I should use "doesn't". However, I got confuse when sentences like that comes up. In this sentence we have the "word" in plural, what makes me think in "don't". am I right? Is my reasoning correct?
 
Third person, like first and second, has both singular and plural.
