Hi.

Are my two sentences idiomatic? Will native speakers use them?

1) He disjointed his wrist when he fell.
2) This (The Grand Canal) met a pressing need by linking the Yangtze Valley, which had become the economic center of the country, with the North, which remained the political center.

1) is okay but formal. I don't remember the source of 2) but I'm sure there are not from reliable sources. I think the 2) is okay too.

For the first one, change 'disjointed' to 'dislocated'. Aside from that, it's common enough given the relatively uncommon need to use it. It's not particularly formal.

#2 is okay if 'the' is part of the official name. If not, then 'the' shouldn't be capitalized.
