Diff: Do you have the time / time?

Hi Everyone,

I'd like to know if someone asks me "Do you have the time?" and "Do you have time?" What is the actual meaning? Any difference between these two questions? Please advise.

Hi There. I think you will find that to pose the question, " ... do you have the time?" would be to enquire as to the time of day or night. Where as, " ... do you have time ...?" This would be to ask some person/s if they/he/she have time free to assist you in some way.:lol:
