I remember a few years ago, an examiner asked me to describe a road trip experience, and I didn't know what to say because I‘d never had a road trip. Without any ideas in mind, I made up a story, "I went to a mountain with my family on car, and we saw some animals along the way.....". It was really difficult to come up with something that I'd never experienced. Maybe I need to read travel videos or magazines to know more about different forms of travelling.

It was really difficult to come up with something about a topic that I'd never experienced I had no experience of. Maybe I need to read watch travel videos or read magazines to know more about different forms of travelling.

You could, but "been" is more natural (in BrE, at least).
