Diary - A month ago, I wanted to grow watermelons

A month ago, I wanted to grow watermelons so I started to buy them in order to get some seeds. However, many of them were of unviable seeds. I wonder what the farmer have done to those watermelons to turn the black seeds into white. Have they used the genetic modification technologies? Although I like that kind of "seedless watermelons", I hope they won't become extinct.
