Have I made any mistakes? This is just a writing exercise.

Diana wished her father would go with her to a party, but Bob told her he didn't know what he would do there, surrounded by so many young people. "Don't worry, you'll not feel out of place," she said. "There will be a couple of women of your age. You have to meet some interesting people. I don't want you to stay a widower for the rest of your life. I believe Mother wouldn't wish you to be alone."
"But I don't have proper clothes," Bob said. "I didn't buy anything for years."
"No excuses," Diana said. "We'll go to town today and buy you a new suit and a pair of shoes. That'll be my present to you."

My suggestions.
