Is there a difference? Is the word desk arm-chair a little dated?

I commonly hear desk chair or arm chair.

A desk chair is usually an adjustable height chair for use at someone's desk. It may or may not have arms. An armchair is a piece of living room furniture with arms or it can be a piece of dining room furniture with arms as opposed to a side chair that has no arms. They are all in current use.
