There is a sentence "Days ago, the school held Inauguration Ceremony of xxx.", which myfriend and I saw on an English learning website yesterday.
My friend argued that the phrase "days ago" was quite wired, it should be "recently". But I'm not sure.

Can you tell me the use of "days ago"?
 
You could say: "A few days ago ...." You could also use "recently" there.

I wouldn't use "days ago" at all.
 
Perhaps 'Just days ago", but avoid 'days ago' by itself.
