Could you please explain the term "cut an interminably long rant short by saying that..." meaning for me?

I am not a teacher.

"To cut short" means to stop waffling and to get to the point.

What is being cut short? The interminably long rant. To rant is what you do when you go on at length about something angrily.

It means to stop the very long rant.
